Wake up early and head out towards Swartberg Pass on the bus. Get dropped off at the base of the Swartberg Pass. Run for 10 kilometres up to the top of the pass, to the turn-off to Gamkaskloof. Drive for 20 kilometres down the road to Gamkaskloof. Disembark about 30km from Die Hel. Run down the long dusty road into the village, including the awe-inspiring Elandsklook Pass. Total distance for the day just over 41km.
Overnight at the historic Cape Nature cottages inside the Swartberg Reserve.
