Leave Die Hel by bus to the end of the valley. We proceed upwards via footpaths up the Ladder to the Boschluiskloof Pass.
We follow that pass to the Seweweekspoort, a 17km pass through the mountains which crosses a stream 23 times, whilst the mountain slopes on both sides reach 1500 - 2000m. We proceed downwards and southwards towards Zoar, which is on Route 62.
The support vehicle will collect us at the base of the pass, after we have run about 38 kilometres for the day. We head down to Barrydale by bus, and check in at the Barrydale Hotel, nestled in the Langeberg mountains.
